Dear Patients and Friends of OC Smile,
Thank you for allowing me the opportunity to introduce myself to you! I am an Orange County native, and after graduating from El Dorado High School, I attended the University of Hawaii on a full football scholarship. Due to injury, I received my undergraduate degree, in Biology, from California State University at Stanislaus. While at CSUS, I served as the team captains for both the Men’s soccer and Men’s track teams. I received my Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree from USC School of Dentistry, where I graduated with honors and became a lifetime member of Omicron Kappa Upsilon, the esteemed National Dental Honor Society. I received my Specialty Orthodontic Certificate and Masters of Dental Science (MDS) Degrees from the University of Connecticut. I am a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics, an extraordinary accomplishment achieved by a very small percentage of orthodontists.
My wife, Dr. Bonnie, and I have 3 beautiful children. We’re “OC Locals” and enjoy all the awesome amenities the area has to offer. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family, being active outdoors, and reading. I find importance in demonstrating solid values and morals, and I have always pursued excellence in my personal and professional life. I look forward to working with you to help create your beautiful, long-lasting, smile.

Dr. Mike Hyneman
Dr. Mike Hyneman grew up locally in Fullerton, attending Laguna Road School the year it opened. He graduated from Sunny Hills High School before receiving a B.S. degree in Biology from Stanford University. After receiving a DMD degree from Washington University in St Louis, he moved back west to Arizona, where he practiced general and cosmetic dentistry 32 years before selling his offices and returning home to Fullerton in 2018.
Dr. Hyneman is married to his wife Roberta, a dental hygienist, and has two grown children. His daughter, Rachel, has a PhD in particle physics, and is completing a post-doctorate degree at Stanford’s Linear Accelerator Center. His son, Daniel, has earned both DDS and MD degrees, and is in his fourth year of an oral and maxillofacial surgery residency at LSU Medical Center.
Dr. Hyneman and his wife enjoy home renovation in their spare time, as well as downhill skiing in Durango, Colorado, where they have a small second home. Additionally, he enjoys building experimental aircraft and has completed two projects.
Dr. Hyneman is passionate about what he does, striving to provide excellent care to all. He truly treats his patients like family!

I completed my training at New York University, College of dentistry followed by two years of residency at Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai.
I absolutely love seeing my patients smile after each visit – it is my favorite part about what I do! I enjoy all aspects of dentistry and I am committed to being the provider I can be for my patients.
I am originally from Orange County, California and love spending my free time exploring new restaurants, going on hikes, and playing tennis!

Dr. Ian Rodd
As one of the most honest and sincere dentists in the Dana Point area, Dr. Rodd is proud to be a lifelong partner for your dental health. He received a degree in Biochemistry at UCLA, his interest in dentistry began to take shape after his college career.
Committing himself to a future in the field of dentistry, Dr. Rodd took the Dental Admissions Test (DAT), scored among the top 1% of applicants in the United States, and was accepted into the prestigious dental program at UCLA. Dr. Rodd graduated and earned his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from UCLA in 1992.
Dr. Rodd remained at UCLA to complete a mini residency in esthetic dentistry. He has, since, also completed courses for Invisalign and Clear Correct orthodontics, lip augmentation, and Botox dentistry.
His numerous years of experience and training have helped him become a world class provider of cosmetic and general dentistry. He provides treatments including dental bonding, invisible braces, crowns, bridges, veneers, dental implant restoration, inlays, onlays, teeth whitening, and dentures.

Dr. Kevin Nguyen
Dr. Kevin Nguyen is devoted to providing personalized, comprehensive dental care to his community in Orange County. Since graduating from undergrad at UCLA and then dental school at Western University of Health Sciences in 2020, he has worked throughout the county to improve the dental health and lives of his patients.
Throughout his life he has been an avid lover of music and arts. During his high school years he performed as a pianist and later branched into other arts including photography, dance, playing other instruments, DJing, yoga and meditation, cooking, and of course dentistry. Influenced by his great mentors, friends, and family, Dr. Nguyen is constantly working on refining his skills.
His dental affiliations include the American Dental Association, California Dental Association, Orange County Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He aims to solve his patients’ problems and continually receives advanced training at Spear Education to get better at doing so.
Dr. Nguyen lives with his wife Cathy and their two cats, Misa and Jade. Together they have a lot of fun traveling, meeting new friends, attending concerts together, and being a part of the Orange County community overall.
